I actually like the old Leon better. The pink in this one's face, especially his nose, is simply too bright. It's unrealistically light in color.

Also the blue eyes make him look cheerier, whereas the brownish-gray eyes of before gave him a much more sullen and serious look.

And one final thing is the line of his nose. I guess it's your new shading style, but the line for his nose kinda weird. He didn't use to have a nose line before and, although less realistic, I think it looked better.

It just seems like Leon in this picture is too... overdone. The detail is good, but maybe too much, ya know? More isn't necessarily better, and I think that even in the simplified nature of the old one [link] you managed to fully convey him without needing to saturate every detail.

Anywho, just my thoughts. This one is still very well done, I just like the old one better. Frankly it's good to see some of your art either way.

Love the details on the clothing. Very crumpled.

I do agree with Dur on the pink. It's a little too bright for the rest of the picture. It just feels out of place. The eyes as well. a little too bright.

I'm not sure what Dur means about the nose line, but I think he's refering to the way the right side (his right side) of his face is shaded. The shading indicates a human like face, not a feline like face. It's just pointy.

But I can't compare it to the old image because it's two different styles. Your old picture is less realism. This one is really going for realism.

I'm happy you finally posted this though. I saw it over on 2kinds... you need to post here more often. There's a bunch of stuff over there you haven't posted. hehe.

The perspective on his right foot, how it's so much closer to us... I really like that. and the foot is well done.

I think the darkness of the clothing, all the shadow is what sets off his brighter colors so awkwardly. Just need to balance the shadows with the rest of him.

Overall, it's still a great picture, but you are asking for critique.

i do agree that the older leon has a much more natural feel about him, i agree that the pink is too bright and the eye change was something iwas just experimenting with. the original leon was based more on myself thus the brown eyes, in this version i was somewhat combining him with norrik in both costume and details such as the eyes, though i agree that the original has a much more natural feel about him.

i think your right, the clothes look darker aged and rugged while the character is light and clean, i'm probably going to redo leon taking into account all the suggestions i have recieved. i was really just winging it when i was doing the coulors..... lol

Yeah, the shading that indicates where the line of his nose is, i.e. "nose line."

And I can compare 'em cuz I'm not an artist and they're both about the same thing.

That's very very good! I do like the new Leon as much as the old. I really like the clothes how they are, they stand out so much.

Hm. I'm not much of a crit, very sorry. I just can't see anything wrong with this. The rest has given you fantastic suggestions already. I need some of those suggestions too some time!
